IPL 2022 Auction Highlights: Archer, Livingstone gain big on Day 2; Ishan, Chahar, Shreyas headline first day

This Sunday is touted to be a Super one as we will see a host of overseas stars go under the hammer and it's only going to make the bidding war more and more intense. Let's take a look at some of them, shall we?

Noor Ahmad, a 17-year-old from Afghanistan, was sold to Gujarat Titans for INR 30L. He is the youngest player to enter this auction and has already played in the LPL, BPL, BBL!

They may have gone unsold yesterday but some of them, if not all, could be up for sale again should the franchises include them in their list for the accelerated auction.

Remember, each team had to submit a list of 20 players for the accelerated auction by 9 am today.

Steve Smith, Imran Tahir, David Miller, Amit Mishra, Umesh Yadav, Adam Zampa, Adil Rashid, Mujeen Zadran, Wriddhiman Saha, and Sam Bilings were some of the other names that failed to attract a bid

Another shocker arrived when Bangladesh's star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan's name was passed on. Over the course of this tournament, he has been closely associated with KKR and has always been in demand. Hence, this was completely unexpected.

One of the biggest surprise of the day was 'Mr IPL' Suresh Raina attracting no interest. Yes, he is past his prime and hasn't particularly performed in the last couple of seasons but he continues to remain one of the top run-getters in the league. His experience is valuable to any side

This means that 23 names remain unsold as of now. The list includes some prolific names. Let's take a look at a few of them

Uncapped all-rounder Rahul Tewatia was crucial to the success of Rajasthan Royals in the past. Recognizing his contribution, newcomers Gujarat Titans decided to shell out INR 9 crore for the big-hitting left-hander. Will he do justice? We shall find out!

The Sunrisers Hyderabad started slow as they couldn't manage to buy a single player until the lunch break but they upped their game later on.

One of their best buys was the talented, uncapped batter in Rahul Tripathi. The versatile cricketer last played for KKR and he played in all positions from 1-6. It will be interesting to see where he is slotted in SRH.

And yes, he will draw a salary of INR 8.5 crore. The bidding started at his base price of INR 40L

Before I talk about the performance of a few uncapped players, as promised, let me remind you that we are moving closer to the start of the second day. Some big, big names will be up for auction today and it promises to be a belter of a finish

Over the course of the last few years, the IPL has seen the rise of numerous local uncapped talent. In my instances, they have outperformed the senior pros and made the difference. And on Day 1 of the last mega auction, some of them managed to bag tall salaries.

Prasidh Krishna has been very impressive every time he has stepped onto the field. And finally, his hard work was recognized in the auction yesterday as Rajasthan Royals bought him for INR 10 cr

West Indies' Nicholas Pooran scored only 85 runs in 12 matches in IPL 2021. Just 85 and that run included a series of ducks. Yet, SRH decided to spend INR 10.75 crore on Pooran. Interesting, to say the least!

Gujarat Titans pocketed New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson for INR 10 crore. The pacer played a huge role in some of KKR's wins in the last couple of years but the amount he went for was definitely along the unexpected lines.

Former CSK player will now play for the Delhi Capitals! The owner shelled out INR 10.75 crore and later revealed that he was always in their plans as he is a proven all-rounder who is very versatile! Later on, we will dwell more into DC's interesting auction so far

Royal Challengers Bangalore spent INR 10.75 crore each on Wanindu Hasaranga and Harshal Patel and made it very clear that they were going to have them back at any cost. While, it did make complete sense to secure the services of the highest wicket-taker of last season, Harshal, the move to spend so much on Hasaranga raised a lot of eyebrows. That is because he was benched for quite a few games and didn't make a lasting impact.
