"The 2009 opening ceremony (to be held at the D Y Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai) would be spectacular and better than last year. It will be a 30 minute visual extravaganza," Modi said while launching the new season of the T20 league rechristened as "DLF IPL" here.

The organisers have planned various cultural items like "Drums of India", featuring the drummers from the five zones of the country, besides showcasing a top international roller skating duo, acrobats and fire dancers, among others.

The closing ceremony, on May 24, will also be held at the same venue, Modi declared.
