Kings XI Punjab won four out of their first six games, they were rollicking along when everything snapped. They could only win two out of the remaining nine games to be ousted from the playoffs contention. The decline was rapid, it mirrored exactly what happened in the previous season.

“One of the areas we have definitely lacked this year is the powerplay, both with bat and ball. Last year we had great powerplay batting with Chris and KL, but this year we couldn’t get off to great starts because obviously the pressure was on them and they had to do the job. We have to address this going into the next year because we have lost most games on powerplay battles,” Ravichandran Ashwin, KXIP captain said at the end of the last match.

However, Ashwin is a proud man and he would want to finish on a high. When his side takes on the CSK, he will most definitely go for the win and hence, will pick a side accordingly.

Shami, who picked up an injury in the previous match, could miss out. Karun Nair could get a game, a great chance for him to remind the management about his worth. Ankit Rajpoot could replace Shami for this match and the role and position of Nicholas Pooran will also be monitored closely.

Here is KXIP’s predicted XI for the match against the Chennai Super Kings:

KL Rahul, Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, Karun Nair, Nicholas Pooran(w), Sam Curran, Ravichandran Ashwin(c), Harpreet Brar, Ankit Rajpoot, Arshdeep Singh, Andrew Tye
