Mahendra Singh Dhoni is an ardent pet lover. Even on his Twitter account, Captain Cool states that he is ‘an absolute pet-lover’ and has often displayed his affection for dogs through social networking sites.

On Friday, the former Indian captain uploaded a video on Instagram that showed him training his dogs with what looked like a tennis ball. His voice can’t be heard because of background music but he can be seen instructing them before he throws the ball around for his pets to fetch.

In 2013, Dhoni had adopted a stray dog from a rescue home in Ranchi and had urged the residents to do the same. His wife, Sakshi, is also known to love pets and has been seen posing with dogs quite often.

In an interview to ESPNCricinfo, Dhoni had once said: “I love to go back to Ranchi. I have three dogs at home. The best thing is that [whether I win a series or lose one], they treat me the same way. They greet me in the same way. That really relaxes me.”

Along with his love for pets, Dhoni’s other hobbies include riding bikes. The limited-overs skipper recently handed over the captaincy in ODIs and T20Is to Virat Kohli.
