IPL 2022 Highlights MI vs DC: Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Capitals by 5 wickets, help RCB seal final playoffs spot

Bumrah made a strong start to the over conceding just two singles in the first five deliveries before Powell pulled the shorter one in the last ball over square leg for a huge six. 

DC 133/5 in 17 overs

Ramandeep into the attack for the first time and Pant pounced on the wider one to slice it over point for a boundary. Commentators debate on whether it was right for Rohit to bring Ramandeep in. Another wider one and Pant shimmied down to swing the blade hard as the ball went over the fielder at short third man for a boundary. In the fifth ball, short and wide down the leg side, Pant pulled it high over fine leg for a six. But that last delivery ended it all for Pant. Wide, Pant looked to chase it but edged it behind to Ishan Kishan. 

DC 125/5 in 16 overs

It came off 31 deliveries. A very crucial one for Delhi now. They have also gone past 100 now. A couple of risky singles and the pair manage seven runs in the over.

DC 106/4 in 15 overs

The spinners had started off well but eventually ended up conceding 60 runs between themselves in 8 overs, 33 runs of which came in the last two overs. Over to the pacers now and Meredith conceded just a single in his second over.

DC 99/4 in 14 overs

He welcomed Markande with a six dispatched down to long-off before he got lucky with a four byes after Ishan Kishan fumbled. 13 runs came off the over.

DC 97/4 in 13 overs

It was right in the slot from Shokeen and Powell muscled it high over cow corner for a huge six. A delivery later, Shokeen pulled back the length and Powell danced down to launch it over midwicket for a second six in the over. A misfield in the next ball saw the sliced attempt go to the third-man fence. Bumrah was the culprit and DC capitalised. 20 runs came off the over. 

DC 84/4 in 12 overs

Pant has been struggling to get that angled in delivery through cover[ for a boundary, but finally managed after he punched the fifth ball through midwicket, courtesy of a fielding error. Delhi need more and more of that. They need a good partnership from here. 

DC 64/4 in 11 overs

Just three runs came off the over. Shokeen has so far conceded just 14 runs in three overs in the game. 

DC 55/4 in 10 overs

Not a great effort from Sarfaraz in attempting that cut. Got the faintest of touch and Ishan grabbed it comfortably to give Markande his first wicket in the game. Delhi are now in deep trouble as they have lost their fourth wicket.

DC 52/4 in 9 overs

Rohit introduced Riley Meredith into the attack and he conceded only three singles in the first five balls before Pant cut the wider one past the keeper for a boundary. 

DC 48/3 in 8 overs

Just four singles in his second over. Delhi are in deep trouble already, losing three wickets inside powerplay. Onus on Pant to rescue Delhi. 

DC 41/3 in 7 overs

Dished out the shorter delivery and angled it down to the leg side. Shaw look to ramp it over, but mistimed it and only got the handle to it. Ishan Kishan made a full-length dive to complete the dismissal. Shaw walked back for just 24. 

DC 37/3 in 6 overs

Shaw released the pressure with a four swept through midwicket against Shokeen. In the final delivery of the over, Pant survived a lbw scare. 

DC 29/2 in 5 overs

Test-match line and length and Mitch Marsh pokes it straight to the fielder at second slip as he goes back for a golden duck. Huge wicket for Bumrah and big loss for Delhi in their must-win game. 

DC 24/2 in 4 overs

Sams with the big wicket for Mumbai. Warner looked to slice the shorter and wider one over short third man, but was found by Jasprit Bumrah stationed there. He goes back for just 5. 

DC 21/1 in 3 overs

In the second ball of the third over, Shaw shimmied out of the track to smash the slower one, outside stump and fuller in length, high and over long-off for a six. 

Hrithik Shokeen started off well in the second over conceding only two singles in the first four balls before Warner took on the fuller ball to lift it over mid-on for a boundary. Shokeen ended the over with a dot. 

DC 12/0 in 2 overs

The left-handed pacer starts off with four-straight dot balls against Shaw before the DC batter punched the length ball in the fifth delivery through midwicket for a boundary. 

DC 6/0 in 1 over. 

Delhi Capitals openers Prithvi Shaw and David Warner make their way to the middle. MI players in a huddle now.

“Honestly, it doesn't matter, we just have to control our side. Definitely they are going to come out hard. They are going to try and prove a point, so we've got to be on top of our game, doesn't matter if they are number one or last on the board. We have to come with full intent, stick to our plans and try to control the game as much as we can. Hopefully, we can get the win at the end of it. Ricky (Ponting) has just been hyping the guys up. We've got a long road ahead of us. Just taking it game by game, ball by ball. Try to be clear and simple in our plans.”

“We are going to bowl first. Good track. Wanted to have a score in front of us. Crucial for us that we restrict them and then bat freely. We were inconsistent throughout the season. The talk in the group is that we need to come together. There will be a few eyes on us, so we got to come up with the best. We have tried a few things in the last few games keeping an eye on the future. We want to finish on a high. Two changes. Brevis back in for Stubbs. Shokeen in place of Sanjay, who is injured.”

"It's always good, trying to ruin some other team's finals hope, so we will give it our all, that's for sure. It's pretty frustrating, we had a pretty bad year, but we still have one game left, so we will give it our all. It's good to get out there, was a bit frustrating to not a get a game in the first half, but it has been enjoyable since then. He (Rohit) is always due, he is such a class player. The morale has been surprisingly good, although we have had a bad tournament. But hopefully Rohit will get a big one tonight. They (fans) have been fantastic this year, almost every game has been a sold-out, it's been outrageous coming out here."

“This is the middle pitch and it is even on both sides. Love the red soil to pieces because it does offer bounce. Spinners do love it here. Little bit of live grass on it, but it's about getting the lengths right. Pace bowlers have been bowling Test match lengths to get people out.”
