Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag have complimented each other on many occasions on the playing field -- both letting their bat doing the talking. Of late, their rapport and friendship has spilled onto Twitter as well, with both Indian cricket team greats pulling each other’s legs every now and then.(Twitter)

When Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar used to swing their bats in tandem, it invariably used to become an occasion for the whole country to celebrate. Their partnerships while batting, and their friendship on and off the field, is well known and that close camaraderie was evident in Tendulkar’s tweet wishing Viru on his 39th birthday. Virender Sehwag has been known to be a little hard-headed when it comes to his approach to batting. The former Indian cricket team opener would come out all guns blazing, making the opposition bowlers run for cover. And this applied regardless of what the pitch conditions were or what the advice from the dressing room was.

Sachin Tendulkar, it seems, remembers, and surely by a few personal experiences as well, how Sehwag used to practically do the opposite of what he was advised to. So, in the birthday wish to his old teammate, Tendulkar decided to remind Viru of his stubborn demeanour.

Tendulkar tweeted his birthday message upside down along with an image of him and Sehwag celebrating in the playing field. “(sic) Happy birthday, Viru! Have a great start to the new year. You’ve always done ulta of what I have told you on field. So here’s one from me,” read Tendulkar’s message.

Viru, quick-witted as he is on twitter, was fast to reply, thanking ‘God Ji’ for the message.

Sehwag’s twitter timeline was flooded with birthday wishes from former teammates as well as fans, including many funny ones.

And Sehwag replied to some funny tweets/questions with his own wit.

However, Tendulkar’s message trumped them all. After all, as Sehwag puts it, it’s from God Ji, right?

Sehwag and Tendulkar opened for India in 93 innings between 2002 and 2012 and was involved in 12 century stands and 18 half-century partnerships, finishing with a career partnership record of 3919 runs in ODIs.
