Kartik Sharma

Age 19IndiaINDIA
Right Handed Wicket Keeper

Born on April 26, 2006, in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, Sharma’s immersion in cricket was almost immediate, initiated by his father, Manoj Sharma, a dedicated student of the game who channelled his own unfulfilled professional aspirations into his son’s training.

Sharma’s early training was facilitated by Shatrughan Tiwari, the Secretary of the Bharatpur District Cricket Association. However, recognizing that local facilities in Bharatpur had a ceiling that Sharma was rapidly approaching, the family made the strategic decision to relocate him to Agra.

The training under Lokendra Chahar was rigorous. The influence of the Chahar family extended beyond mere coaching; Sharma frequently used Deepak Chahar’s bats and equipment, and it was Deepak who provided the pivotal recommendation that Sharma should transition into wicketkeeping to add a second dimension to his professional profile.
Sharma’s transition into senior domestic cricket for Rajasthan was an immediate success. Representing the next generation of Rajasthan’s talent pool, which includes established names like Mahipal Lomror and Deepak Hooda, Sharma announced his arrival through a series of debut centuries across formats.

In the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy season, Sharma made his debut against Uttarakhand and registered 113 runs off 115 balls. His ability to hit centuries against marquee domestic sides like Mumbai and Delhi underscored his mental fortitude against high-quality opposition.
In the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT), Sharma emerged as Rajasthan’s most prolific run-scorer. His debut century against Maharashtra (123 runs off 90 balls) was a masterclass. He finished the tournament as the leading run-getter for the state, helping propel Rajasthan toward the quarter-finals.

By late 2025, Sharma had become the focal point of a multi-franchise scouting effort. He attended trials for seven different IPL teams. During the KKR trials, Sharma reportedly smashed 18 sixes in a single session, a display of power that left a lasting impression on the franchise's leadership. Similarly, at the RCB camp, veteran wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik personally commended Sharma, advising him to maintain his aggressive intent and predicting greatness for the teenager.

This period of intense scrutiny coincided with Sharma being signed by JSW Sports, the management firm responsible for some of India's most prominent athletes, including Neeraj Chopra. The signing was a clear indicator that the corporate and sporting infrastructure of India recognized Sharma as a generational talent before he had even entered the IPL auction pool.

The 2026 IPL mini-auction in Abu Dhabi was a watershed moment for uncapped Indian players. Kartik Sharma, along with Prashant Veer, shattered previous valuation ceilings by securing ₹14.20 crore contracts with CSK.

CSK’s aggressive pursuit of Sharma signaled a strategic recalibration. Historically, the franchise had prioritized experience, a philosophy that earned them the "Dad's Army" moniker, but a disappointing 2025 season where they finished at the bottom of the table necessitated a shift toward youth.
