Shiv Mathur

Shiv Mathur is a right-handed wicketkeeper-batter who made his T20I debut for Hong Kong against Malaysia in 2023 at the Asian Games in Hangzhou. He became the youngest player to represent Hong Kong's men's national side, having already captained the Hong Kong U16 team earlier that year. Mathur subsequently progressed to the U19 setup, taking over the captaincy and becoming a regular across Hong Kong's age-group and senior teams.

His development through the Hong Kong pathway has been rapid. Mathur has represented Hong Kong Cricket Club and Hong Kong A alongside the national and U19 sides, and his performances at youth level earned him several individual honours. He was named Hong Kong's U15 Cricketer of the Year in 2023, followed by the Junior Cricketer of the Year award later that year, and was also recognised as the U16 All Stars Player of the Year in 2024. At HKCC, he was named Ben Hollioake Junior Cricketer of the Year for consecutive seasons before being awarded the Bert Oldfield Men's Cricketer of the Year for 2024-25.

Mathur's leadership role became more prominent when he captained Hong Kong U19 in the ICC U19 World Cup Asia Qualifiers and the ACC U19 Premier Cup. He has continued to move between the youth and senior setups, gaining experience as a wicketkeeper-batter while also being listed as a right-arm medium bowler. His List A debut came for Hong Kong against Tanzania in 2024, adding another step to his progression across formats.

He remained part of Hong Kong's senior setup in 2026, featuring in the side's T20I campaigns and the unofficial ODI series against Kuwait. He also played in the T20I tri-series in Namibia, where Hong Kong faced Namibia and Nigeria. With early senior international experience already behind him and leadership experience at U19 level, Mathur has emerged as one of the younger players being developed for a longer-term role in Hong Kong cricket.
