Sachin not in a hurry to retire

Asked about his retirement plans, Sachin Tendulkar said: “People have been asking me this question for long. The first time was in 2005. Your job is to ask questions and mine is to keep playing.” HT reports.

Sachin Tendulkar will be celebrating his 40th birthday next week but has no plans of calling it a day just yet.

He hinted just as much at a promotional event in the Capital. Asked about his retirement plans, he said: “People have been asking me this question for long. The first time was in 2005. Your job is to ask questions and mine is to keep playing.”

“At the end of the day, you have to do what you practise every day,” Tendulkar added.

The master blaster has already retired from one-day cricket but continues to play in the Test and T20 formats.

His recent poor form, however, prompted South African legend Graeme Pollock to say on Facebook: “(It is) just a little bit sad that the great players, Tendulkar and Ponting, haven’t really hit it off. It is always a hard decision to know when to get out.”

But, undeterred, Tendulkar seems determined to keep trying. “There are some who play cricket and give their opinions. There are also some who have never played the game but also give their opinions. I am not worried about too many opinions,” he said.
