"Probably we wanted to get partnerships and we got that. The guys have been clear about the roles. There are a number of challenges. The execution was largely good. It was tough to hit through the line. Nice to get some partnerships and get across the line," says Williamson about his team's performance.

"Brian is here, you can't have better batting conversations with him, he's helping me tremendously, not just myself but a lot of youngsters in the team. You can see the progress as a batting unit as well. 

"The first over - it went wrong for us, but having said that, I felt that we restricted them really good. Dropped catches - that's something we have to work on. 160-odd on that wicket was fabulous and all our bowlers did their part," says Nicholas Pooran.

“IPL is tough so I tried to show some toughness. The blow (against Malik) woke me up. They bowled well and stuck to their plans, credit to them for the way they bowled. We need to learn from the mistakes, we will have a conversation and a laugh as we have out next game in a couple of days.”

Gujarat have dropped fifth on the points table. Hyderabad are currently eighth with fours points under their belt.

"I think batting wise we were 7-10 runs short, that would have made difference in the end. We started well with the ball, but those two overs where they scored 30 runs, got them back into the game," says Hardik Pandya on the defeat.

Hardik also notched up a brilliant fifty but Williamson eclipsed the knock with a calculated knock while chasing. The Titans were perhaps 15-20 runs short on this wicket.
