Bangladesh win toss, choose to bowl first

Bangladesh's batting has not been too impressive in this tournament. Just to make matters worse Nazmul Shanto, who scored a hundred and an 89, has been s ruled out of the tournament due to a hamstring niggle.

There is a lot of backlash about the India vs Pakistan game in the Super 4 being the only match getting a reserve day. This has come from Indian and Pakistani sides as much as it has from Sri Lanka or Bangladesh. After a rather scathing assessment of the situation by Bangladesh coach Chandika Hathurusinghe both the Bangladesh and Sri Lanka cricket boards put out identical statements saying that this has been done with their consent. All very unfortunate and murky.

Sri Lanka may have won both their matches but they exposed their problems far more than anything. They first struggled to chase down 165 against Bangladesh and then almost allowed Afghanistan to gun down 292 in 37.1 overs, which would have led to them being knocked out of the tournament.

The side will now seek a quick recovery and aim to remain alive in contention for Super 4

In their previous match in the 2023 edition, Sri Lanka outclassed Bangladesh by five wickets after bundling the side out on 165. Against Afghanistan, Dasun Shanaka's men had a close shave, as a gross miscalculation from their opponents played key to Sri Lanka's 2-run win. The momentum is undoubtedly with the hosts as they enter their first Super 4 game
