India beat the Black Caps by 197 runs in the 3-match series as Ravichandran Ashwin clinched an impressive ten-wicket haul across both innings.
The milestone victory was accompanied with a record by Ashwin who became the fastest Indian bowler to pick 200 Test wickets on Sunday after he dismissed Kane Williamson on the fourth day’s play in Kanpur.
Kohli’s men had set an unlikely target of 434 for victory at Kanpur’s Green Park stadium.
It has been 84 years since India entered the fold of Test cricket, and captain Virat Kohli’s men will be part of another milestone in the second Test against the Black Caps at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens -- it will be India’s 250th at home.
