Virat Kohli leaves RCB fans on a cliffhanger with a special message ahead of captaincy announcement

In a video posted by the franchise on Twitter, Kohli seems to be getting ready to make an important announcement when the video abruptly fast forwards and ends.

Virat Kohli has left a cryptic message for fans of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as the franchise prepares to announce its new captain ahead of the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. In a video posted by the franchise on Twitter, Kohli seems to be getting ready to make an important announcement when the video abruptly fast forwards and ends.

The video was part of RCB's promotional campaign ahead of their ‘RCB Unbox’ event, in which they are expected to reveal the new jersey and announce their new captain.

“So a few updates for you guys. As you know we are going to start our season pretty soon, something which I am very excited for. Really looking forward to this season. First and foremost the most important news is that...” Kohli says in the video.

With South Africa great AB de Villiers retiring from all forms of cricket, his former Proteas team mate Faf du Plessis and Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell are among the frontrunners for taking over the RCB captaincy.

Kohli had announced before the start of the 2021 season that it would be his last as RCB's captain. His announcement came just days after he had said that he would be stepping down as India's T20I captain ahead of the T20 World Cup. Kohli was then sacked as India's ODI captain and later stepped down from Test captaincy as well, which means that he will now play for India and in the IPL as just a player.
