Moeen Ali was the star of the day for the hosts as he took four wickets in India’s second innings to secure a 60-run victory for his side. India got off to the worse possible start as they three quick wickets in their chase. Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane tried to stage a comeback as they posted a century stand for the fourth wicket, but Moeen got the better of both Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane to seal the series.

After the defeat, the Indian skipper conceded that his team failed to capitalise when they were on top and praised England for being the better sides when the pressure was on.

“It’s very difficult to recognise key moments in the first innings of a Test. But they turn out to be very big moments, eventually in the course of the game. I myself felt had I batted for longer that day, the lead could have been bigger. Even after that, we thought we could get a couple of more partnerships and extend the lead. Eventually, Pujara had to play a blinder to get us (the lead). Apart from that as captain, I don’t see many areas we need to think of as negatives because we tried our best,” Kohli said after the match.

The fifth and final Test begins at the Oval on September 7.
