Seven years later since retiring from international cricket, the Sri Lanka batting legend showcased his skills and left many fans amazed. The incident took place when Sangakkara was asked by former England captain Nasser Hussain to bat against a bowling machine.

It's over five years since Kumar Sangakkara played his last international match but the flair in his batting remains untouched. The former Sri Lanka wicket-keeper batter, who has registered over 10,000 runs in both the formats (Test and ODI), was an anchor figure in the star studded Sri Lankan batting line-up, which boasted the names of Tillakaratne Dilshan, Mahela Jayawardene, Sanath Jayasuriya.

Seven years later since retiring from international cricket, the Sri Lanka batting legend showcased his skills and left many fans amazed. The incident took place when Sangakkara was asked by former England captain Nasser Hussain to bat against a bowling machine, to which the ex-Lankan cricketer obliged.

Hussain asked the person behind the bowling machine to deliver balls almost at the same length at which Trent Boult tried to execute his out swingers in the Test series between England and New Zealand.

Sangakkara started off the exercise by playing some defensive punches and looking at the ex-cricketer knocking the ball with ease Hussain asked to add some more pace and swing behind the ball.

Sangakkara then switched to his trademark cover drives, both square and straight at the wicket. The former cricketers were part of the expert panel of Sky Sports for the three-match series, which England won 3-0.

The video was shared by IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals, which Sangakkara is the head coach of. “It is 2022 and Kumar Sangakkara is still acing the cover drive,” the franchise wrote in their tweet.

Sangakkara was also seen commentating during the Test series, and during which he suggested Jos Buttler should open for England in the red-ball format as well. He also noted Ben Foakes as “world's best wicketkeeper” at the moment.

"I would open with Buttler rather than playing at 6 or 7. Sehwag, Hayden successfully opened, then why not Buttler?” Sangakkara said during commentary on Sky Sports on the Day 4 of the Third Test.
