Watch: Shastri's mind-blowing commentary on Dhoni's six in GT vs CSK match gives 2011 World Cup vibes
For those back at home, who were glued to their television sets, not on mobile or laptop, they were served with mind-blowing commentary from Ravi Shastri
Not once on Friday evening did it look like Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were not playing at home, in their beloved Chepauk. Amid the Gujarat Titans fans who were present in abundance at the Narendra Modi Stadium for the IPL 2023 season opener, there was a a sea of yellow, who roared through some of the big moments of CSK. And most of those featured one man, and one man only, the legendary MS Dhoni, the only player who glued the fans of both teams as the Ahmedabad crowd, as a whole, cheered through his knock and sighed at his missed opportunities.

The moment that however stood out was that six from Dhoni during his entertaining cameo of 14 runs in seven balls. Former CSK net bowler Joshua Little, who was roped in by Gujarat at the 2023 mini-auction, dished out a back of a length delivery, down middle stump to Dhoni. The CSK skipper swung the bat across ferociously and dispatched it high and over deep square leg for a huge six. The crowd roared the loudest, arguably, and went berserk. But for those back at home, who were glued to their television sets, not on mobile or laptop, they were served with mind-blowing commentary from Ravi Shastri on that six which surely gave them that 2011 World Cup vibes.
"The house has come down here with that six. So used to seeing sixes from Dhoni. And the 100,000-plus crowd will say that they have got their money's worth with that just one shot. We have seen enough from Ruturaj Gaikwad but this was a Paisa Vasool shot," Shastri said on air.

Little bowled down the same length in the very next ball and Dhoni whacked it again, although this time it was a boundary for the skipper. But Hardik, GT leader, looked visibly frustrated.
Dhoni wanted to make the most of the last two balls, of what was the final over of the innings, but Little pulled things back and went with a slower and wider delivery which the CSK batter missed and later managed only a single in the last ball as the team managed 178 for seven. Gaikwad was the top-scorer for the side with his 50-ball 92.
CSK eventually lost the match by five wickets, succumbing to Gujarat Titans for the third straight time in their IPL encounters.
