‘Way better than current English spinners’: Fans react after Monty Panesar dismisses Sachin, Yuvraj and Kaif
Former England spinner Monty Panesar garnered attention on Tuesday night as he produced a phenomenal spell for the England Legends in the ongoing Road Safety World Series against India Legends in Raipur. The left-arm spinner returned with the figures of 3/15 as Sachin Tendulkar-led side suffered their first defeat (by 6 runs) in the tournament.
Just like the old times, Panesar wreaked havoc against the Indian batters with his accuracy. He jolted the Indian Legends by scalping the wickets of Mohammad Kaif, Yuvraj Singh and skipper Sachin Tendulkar.
Panesar began the juggernaut in his second over when he cleaned up Kaif for just 1 run. Three deliveries later, the left-arm spinner dismissed Sachin with a flighted delivery. The Indian legends skipper went down the line but got beaten by the turn and wicketkeeper Phil Mustard affected an easy stumping.
Yuvraj Singh was his next and the final wicket who was dismissed on the 9th over of India Legends’ chase.
Panesar’s impressive spell created a huge buzz on social media. Many cricket fans called him better than the current lot of England spinners who featured in the recently-concluded 4-match Test series which India won 3-1. A few people opined that the India Legend batters are yet to figure out a plan to play against Panesar.
