Turnout goes for a toss in Dehradun after mid-day
Enthusiastic voters thronged the polling booths in the state capital on Wednesday. But the booths in posh areas saw huge only in the early hours of the day. After 12pm the voter turnout diminished.
Enthusiastic voters thronged the polling booths in the state capital on Wednesday. But the booths in posh areas saw huge only in the early hours of the day. After 12pm the voter turnout diminished.
Contrary to this, polling booths situated in semi-urban areas reported large voter turnout throughout the day.
Voter turnout in Shri Guru Ram Rai junior school, Vasant Vihar phase 1, was quite high in the morning. The school had polling booths-26, 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31. Even though the voter turnout here was thin in the first hour of polling, it gathered pace till 12pm.
Booth level officer (BLO) NK Verma said, “Voters from Vasant Vihar and Indira Nagar are coming to vote at this polling station.
The enthusiasm was very high among voters during morning hours. But, after 12pm the percentage has declined.”
Similarly, Shivalik Public High School at Balliwala reported a significant voter turnout in the morning. Returning officer (RO) A Mirza said that till 3pm, the polling percentage was more than 50.
Government primary school at Jakhan and Kishan Nagar with voters from Jakhan and Rajpur areas also reported satisfactory voter turnout in the early hours.
