UP criminals posing threat to US Nagar police

US Nagar is a sensitive district in regard of crime and communal tension.

Criminals from UP have been posing a big threat to US Nagar police for years. As per police record, 35 out of 55 criminals, who have rewards on their heads and absconding for a long time, belong to UP. Now, a special operation group (SOG) has been handed over the responsibility to locate and bring absconding criminals behind the bar.

US Nagar is a sensitive district in regard of crime and communal tension. It is surrounded by five districts of UP, Pilibhit, Bareilly, Rampur, Moradbad and Bijnore. All these districts are considered for high crime rate in UP. According to sources of US Nagar police, criminals come here from UP and flee after committing the crime.

In these circumstances, it becomes hard to unveil the case and nab them because of implication of state’s boundary.

“55 criminals, with reward on their head for committing crime in US Nagar, are on the run. 35 of them are from UP and only nine belong to this district. Others are from Rajasthan, Haryana and West Bengal. These absconding criminals have Rs 500 to Rs 5,000 rewards on their heads,” said sources.

SOG of district police has been instructed to launch an operation for their arresting operation. Sadanand Date, senior superintendent of police, US Nagar, said, “Since the police is engaged in several kind of routine work besides maintaining law and order, the SOG has been entrusted with the responsibility to nab them by launching an operation.”
