BJP committees to ‘expose’ AAP on unkept promises
“We have to expose their (AAP government’s) lies. There are a lot of issues that ail the AAP-led Delhi government and we have to tell the people about them. The committee to expose the AAP government will be headed by Gupta,” Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari said.
To identify issues on which it can take on the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Delhi leg of the Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to form a committee, headed by MLA Vijender Gupta, leader of the opposition in the Delhi assembly. The party is, however, not coming out with a Delhi-specific manifesto.

“We have to expose their (AAP government’s) lies. There are a lot of issues that ail the AAP-led Delhi government and we have to tell the people about them. The committee to expose the AAP government will be headed by Gupta,” Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari said.
When contacted, Gupta said, “We have been exposing the lies and failures of the AAP government. Ahead of the elections, we will focus on issues on which they have failed to deliver. We have been raising all the issues for the past few years. But it is important to remind people about all the promises they had made and how they have failed to deliver on them. While the AAP will be our main focus, as they are in power, we will also expose the Congress.”
The Delhi BJP unit is planning to form close to 10 committees for smooth management of elections. “There will be committees that will reach out to the residents’ welfare associations, traders, social and religious institutions, for election campaign management, roadshows and public meetings, among other things. We will soon announce the list of committees,” Tiwari said.
Unlike 2014, the Delhi BJP will not come out with a Delhi-specific manifesto. Tiwari had recently said that the party is planning to bring Delhi-specific manifesto.
“We had given our key issues from Delhi to the central leadership which have been included in our manifesto. We will not come out with a Delhi-specific manifesto,” Tiwari said.
Ahead of the last general elections, the Delhi BJP unit had come out with a detailed manifesto for the national Capital in which it promised full statehood for Delhi, regularisation of unauthorised colonies, better road and transport infrastructure, among other things.
