AAP legislator from Delhi Cantt booked for ‘forging’ degree
ROHTAK: Another Aam Aadmi Party legislator has been booked over a ‘forged’ degree. The Jhajjar police have booked Surender Singh, legislator from Delhi Cantt, for fabricating his degree to get a job in the Haryana government in 2012.
The case has been registered on the complaint of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Delhi Cantt. MLA Karan Singh Tanwar, under Section 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Citing a Right to Information (RTI) reply, Tanwar stated that the highest education qualification mentioned in Surender Singh’s service record with the army is senior secondary.
He stated in the complaint that Surender submitted fake graduation degree and mark-sheets for the period from January 2009 to March 2011, during which he was still in regular service with the army.
Tanwar stated in his complaint that Surender obtained employment in Government Senior Secondary School, Jhajjar, on the post of vocational teacher (security), for which it was mandatory to have a degree or a diploma in security from a reputed institute.
“It is not possible for a person to undergo a regular graduation programme, being in service and not attending classes and giving examinations,” the complaint against Singh read. Daya Chand, Jhajjar city police station house officer said they were probing the case.
Earlier, AAP MLA Jitender Singh Tomar had also faced action for allegedly forging his law degree.
