NEW DELHI: Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday urged lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung to reconsider his decision to revoke the appointment of Krishna Saini as chairperson of Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission, in public interest.

The L-G’s office on Monday cancelled Saini’s appointment, saying it was done without Jung’ s approval as mandated under rules and procedures. Jung directed the Delhi government to restart the appointment process.
In his reply, Kejriwal requested the L-G to revoke the order and said all required procedures were followed by the AAP government.
In his 27-page note to Jung, Kejriwal said revoking Saini’s appointment would only lead to “serious problems” for the power department and a huge adverse impact on the consumer, which could not have been the “intention” of the L-G. He offered to meet Jung to request him to reconsider his decision.
“There is not an iota of malafide, bias or other irregularity in the process,” Kejriwal said in the note.
Meanwhile, sources in the L-G’ s office said they received the communication and the secretariat will follow due procedure.
On August 4, the Delhi high court ruled that the L-G was the administrator of Delhi. Following this order, Jung formed a three-member committee to review the decisions of the A AP government which came to power in February 2015.
