According to an official of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the force that maintains security at metro stations, the man was on the edge of the platform and leaned forward to see the coming train.
“He was standing on the edge and leaned when the train going towards Jahangirpuri hit him. He fell on the platform and suffered head injuries. He was taken to Lady Hardinge hospital where doctors declared him brought dead,” said a senior Central Industrial Security Force official.
The man was identified as Amit Talwar, a resident of Saket. His father was informed about the incident.
Metro services were disrupted for around 10 minutes after the incident as train was stopped as precautionary measure.
“The incident took place at 8:50 am and train services resumed at 9 am. It was morning peak hour so the incident caused overcrowding and backlog,” the official added.
Police said they were waiting for the family members to ascertain if it was a case of suicide.
