Sangeeta waits for ‘missing’ twin, admn says she delivered one baby

NOIDA: It’s been 17 days since Sangeeta Devi had her delivery at the district hospital in Noida. But unlike other new mothers, the joys of motherhood elude her. Even as she holds her newborn girl, she awaits the ‘missing twin’ -- the one she believes was never given to her.

The administration, on the other hand, says she gave birth to only one baby and is readying to take action against the radiologists who prepared the ‘erroneous reports’ that the woman was pregnant with twins.

“We released the probe report on Friday night and the probe found that Sangeeta was pregnant with a single foetus. We have forwarded our report to the district administration,” Garg said.

“It is a case of sheer negligence on the part of the radiologists, we will propose action against them ,” Garg said. However, Sangeeta’s delivery is clouded with too many unanswered questions.

Her family alleged the health department and the hospital administration have kept them in the dark about the investigation.

“Dr RK Garg has been avoiding us. He doesn’t respond to our phone calls and despite us running pillar to post, none of the officials has spoken to us,” said Devendra Paswan, Sangeeta’ s brother-in-law.

On June 21, Sangeeta, a resident of Chhijarsi in Sector 63, was admitted to Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Multispeciality Hospital in Sector 30 after she got labour pains.

After delivery, Sangeeta was given a baby girl despite two ultrasound reports showing she was pregnant with twins. Dr Pushpa Kaul, chairperson of SJM Super Specialty Hospital, rubbishes the district hospital’s claim.
