According to police, Shilpa had merely offered to help the victim, Himani, to her residence after two boys on a scooty snatched her bag near Ramesh Nagar Metro station. “Shilpa came to Himani’s aid as soon as the latter raised an alarm after being targeted by the duo riding the scooty. As they rode toward Himani’s residence, she spotted the same boys who had targeted her and Shilpa gave chase,” said a police officer.
Bystanders waylaid the accused and handed them over to the police. They have been identified as Surender and Nirvan, both pursuing BCom from DU. “The girls have been rewarded with a cash reward of Rs 1,000 each,” said V Renganathan, additional CP (west).
