A two-year-old girl was found dead in northwest Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar area on Saturday, the police said.

“The child was identified as Damini. She was missing since Friday afternoon,” said a senior Delhi Police officer requesting anonymity.
According to the police, the child was last seen around 2.30pm on Friday with her two older sisters on their way to their maternal grandparents' home in Kaushik Enclave.
“Their father had sent them for Kanjak puja to their grandfather’s house. After the puja, Damini had stepped out to play and couldn’t be traced since,” the officer said.
He said her parents reported the matter to local police on Friday evening and filed a missing-person report.
“Damini’s body was found during investigation in a puddle behind her grandparents’ house. Prima facie, no external injuries have been discovered on the body,” said the officer.
He said the body was sent for an autopsy, and the police were waiting for the report.
“We have registered a case of murder at the Swaroop Nagar police station and investigation is underway,” the officer said.
