Delhi Police have arrested a 26-year-old man for killing his father in Zamrudpur area of southeast Delhi.

Police said the arrested person, identified as Mohammad Rafi, first gave his father drugs-laced porridge and then strangulated him with a cloth. Police have also recovered a ligature and poisonous materials from his possession.
Mohammad Usman Ahmad (60) was found dead at the third floor of his house on Wednesday morning. "There was a vivid ligature mark on the neck of the deceased. Rafi killed Usman because of the ill-treatment meted out to him and his siblings after their father's second marriage," said Ajay Chaudhry, additional commissioner of police (southeast).
Rafi in his interrogation told police that Usman had mortgaged his agricultural land in Uttar Pradesh and usurped the money.
This was Rafi's second attempt to kill his father. Earlier, he had given Usman some poisonous seeds mixed in his porridge but he survived. Police said Usman was a quack and ran a clinic in Zamrudpur.
