34 urgent care centres across the city in two years

In the next two years, Delhi will get 34 urgent care centres in all its accident-prone zones. These centres are aimed at plugging the huge gap between number of trauma cases and emergency rooms of tertiary care hospitals. HT reports.

In the next two years, Delhi will get 34 urgent care centres in all its accident-prone zones. These centres are aimed at plugging the huge gap between number of trauma cases and emergency rooms of tertiary care hospitals.

"Most trauma victims either die or get disabled for life for the want of timely trauma care," said former chief executive officer at Max healthcare turned entrepreneur Pervez Ahmad.

"While our first of 34 centres will come up in Kalkaji next month, and then at Vikas Marg, we want to start the rest in the next two years. Thereafter we may move to tier II cities," he added.

From treating basic fevers, fractures to complicated heart attacks, strokes and accident traumas the centres will capitalise on the "golden hour" - the first hour after trauma when quality care can save lives.
