5 held for killing local politician

The police have arrested five people in connection with the murder of former Zila Panchayat woman member a month ago. Ruby Yadav, 38, had been gunned down in broad daylight by armed assailants in Vijay Nagar area.

The police have arrested five people in connection with the murder of former Zila Panchayat woman member a month ago. Ruby Yadav, 38, had been gunned down in broad daylight by armed assailants in Vijay Nagar area.

The police said that the mastermind of the attack is a final year BBA student from a management college on NH-24.

Among the five arrested are Rohit Verma and Pushpendra Singh, a resident of sector-58 of Noida. During interrogation, the accused revealed that Singh’s family owned 28 bighas of land in Chak Saveri area of Ghaziabad that had been rented out to Ashok Yadav, Ruby’s husband.

The land was allegedly grabbed illegally by Ashok and he sold off its several plots. Ashok has been convicted by a Ghaziabad court in a double-murder case.

The five arrested are aged between 21 to 25 years and stayed at Aligarh, Bulandshahr, Hapur and Indirapuram before they were nabbed.
