The incident took place around 12.30pm when the victim was returning home on his motorcycle after withdrawing the money from a nearby State Bank of India branch. The victim, Vijay Chand, who retired from the Indian Army as a Subedar, had withdrawn the money for his daughter’s admission in a private management college.

“Chand was parking his motorcycle when the assailants snatched the bag containing the money. He chased them for a long distance but could not succeed in catching them,” said the senior officer.

“Prima facie, it seems that the miscreants had been following Chand from the bank. We have registered a case at the Seemapuri police station and are looking for the assailants. We are also scanning the CCTV footage of the bank to see if any biker was seen following him,” added the officer.

Police said Chand had broken a fixed deposit amount for his daughter’s admission in a private management college in Delhi.
