The Supreme Court on Thursday constituted a six-member special team comprising five CBI and Income Tax (IT) officers to examine the contents of tapped telephonic conversations between corporate lobbyist Niira Radia and politicians, corporate honchos and others.

A bench of Justice GS Singhvi and Justice SJ Mukhopadhaya said the functioning of the team will be supervised by two CBI officers who will report to the superintendent of police of the agency dealing with the 2G scam case.

The bench said the overall supervision will be done by the CBI’s deputy inspector general who is looking after the 2G case. The bench gave the newly-constituted team four months to submit its report.
