70-year-old murdered in Lajpat Nagar
The southeast Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested two young men, Mohammed Ibrahim (21) and Aftab Ahmad (30), for murdering Vimla Sharma (70) and robbing her of Rs 2.23 lakh in cash and jewellery in Lajpat Nagar. HT reports.
The southeast Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested two young men, Mohammed Ibrahim (21) and Aftab Ahmad (30), for murdering Vimla Sharma (70) and robbing her of Rs 2.23 lakh in cash and jewellery in Lajpat Nagar.
“To prove his innocence, Ibrahim had joined the investigation. During interrogation, he broke down and confessed to the crime along with Ahmad,” said Virender Singh Chahal, additional commissioner of police (Southeast).
The deceased used to stay with her sister in Bhogal and would regularly visit her house in Lajpat Nagar. On the day of the incident, the deceased did not go back to her sister’s house.
“Ibrahim gained friendly entry into the house and then let Ahmad in. Ibrahim caught hold of the woman and Ahmad strangled her,” said Chahal.
