In six zones of North Corporation, 7,693 metric tones of silt had been removed.

Nagpal said that the work will bear fruits only if the PWD and irrigation and flood control department de-silt their drains in their areas properly as well as all outlets merge at some stage or the other.

"If the PWD and flood department drains are not cleaned, there will be a backflow of water into homes. And, all our hard work will go to waste," said Nagpal.

He said when he inspected of drains under PWD, he noticed that de-silting work was not being done properly. "Some of their drains are still full of silt," he said.

Nagpal said the NDMC had identified 52 vulnerable points prone to water-logging. Necessary equipment such as pump-sets had been arranged to deal with such situations.
