Aarushi, Hemraj fractures not from golf club blows: Expert

The former head of forensics at AIIMS, Dr RK Sharma, told a Ghaziabad court on Wednesday that the fractures found on the bodies of teenager Aarushi Talwar and the Talwars’ domestic help Hemraj could not have been caused due to blows from a golf club. HT reports.

Sharma, one of the defence witnesses, told the court that the injuries on the victims’ bodies could not have been caused by blows from a club. He said golf club blows mostly caused “depressed fractures”. As per the post-mortem report, Aarushi had a line fracture.

“If some person is lying on a bed and an injury is inflicted at the back of his head, it would have a depressed fracture,” Sharma said. This contradicts the CBI claim that a golf club was used to attack the two.

Sharma said the nature of the injury on the neck of Aarushi suggested it could only have been inflicted with a large sharp-edged weapon like a khukri.
He added that if a victim is unconscious, he/she won’t show any resistance when attacked. “Children in Garhwal and Nepal are taught to use khukri to cut animals,” he said.
