After assembly poll debacle, new faces likely in civic body
This time, sources said, senior party leader and prime ministerial candidate for the general elections LK Advani has told party members to go for new faces rather than repeating the same people, reprots Neelam Pandey.
Even as the BJP is deciding on tickets to municipal councillors for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, the party's councillors have come up with another issue on the table. This one is about the internal elections for the legislative wing of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

The elections for the posts of the mayor, chairperson of the high-powered standing committee and others will be held soon. Last year, councillors who were already holding the posts in 2007-08 were repeated for the year 2008-09. The move had upset some.
This time, sources said, senior party leader and prime ministerial candidate for the general elections LK Advani has told party members to go for new faces rather than repeating the same people.
Even if MCD councillors fail to get tickets to contest the Lok Sabha elections, they will play an important role in projecting the image of the party through their work, which they carry out in their respective areas.
Recently, the Delhi state president of BJP Om Prakash Kohli too had directed the councillors to portray a positive image of the party through their work ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
“Most BJP councillors were against the decision of repeating the same people for the same posts but it was done. The result was there for everyone to see in the Delhi Assembly elections. Everyone should be given a fair chance to try for these posts,” said a BJP councillor requesting anonymity.
In addition to this, party leaders were also looking for more experienced councillors for these posts to manage the civic agency in a better manner.
