While the minimum temperature was two degree below the average at 27.4 degrees, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) expects this figure to hover around 28 degrees Celsius on Sunday.

The maximum humidity touched 74 per cent.

Weather officials said the city could experience a hot weekend, with the maximum temperature set to touch 42 degrees Celsius on Sunday.

"There are chances of thundershowers late Sunday evening and towards night in some parts of Delhi. But the day will remain hot," said an official.

Pre-monsoon showers on Friday had brought some relief to the city, bringing down the temperature by several notches.

The much awaited monsoon is expected to hit Delhi on June 29.
