AK Sikri takes over as acting chief justice of Delhi high court

Justice A K Sikri, the seniormost judge of the Delhi high court, on Monday took over as its acting chief justice, following the elevation of its previous chief justice Dipak Misra as a Supreme Court judge.

Justice A K Sikri, the seniormost judge of the Delhi high court, on Monday took over as its acting chief justice, following the elevation of its previous chief justice Dipak Misra as a Supreme Court judge.

Born on March 7, 1954, Justice Sikri was appointed as a Delhi high court judge on July 7, 1999. He completed LLB from the prestigious Campus Law Centre of the Delhi University in 1977, bagging a gold medal for being best in the course.

Enrolled as an advocate in 1977 with the Bar Council of Delhi, Justice Sikri was a counsel for various Public Sector Undertakings, banks and educational institutions.

Justice Sikri is chairman of the Delhi high court Legal Services Committee and vice-president of the Institute on Constitutional and Parliamentary Studies.
