The month has seen high rainfall figures this time, with the Capital witnessing a whopping 246% more than what is normal at this time of the year.

The total rainfall for the winter season has also been 46% higher than the normal.

Delhi saw heavy rainfall on Saturday morning, with the rain gauges recording 10.3 mm of rainfall in just six hours.

The weather department has attributed the heavy rainfall and inconsistent weather to western disturbances that are closely following one another.

“This year, January did not see as many western disturbances as is usually expected. They were all seen in quick succession in February and that is why there was so much rainfall,” said an official in the meteorology department.
