Speaking to the students, Sanjoy said, “The administration’s apathetic attitude is disappointing. The last time when a northeastern girl was raped, the administration had assured that all security measures would be taken to prevent such incidents. But this case highlights Delhi police’s failure to provide security to women especially those from northestern regions.”

He also said that northeastern women have been the target of prejudices. “Due to lack of employment and educational opportunities people from the northeast migrate to the Capital where they become victims of rampant racial discrimination. Just because they have mongoloid features, do they become non-Indians?” he added.

He demanded that Delhi police ensure security for every citizen and investigations in such cases should be swiftly done.
