Asif Balwa, Agarwal sent to CBI custody

The CBI was on Wednesday allowed by a Delhi court to interrogate Asif Balwa and Rajeev Agarwal, arrested for their alleged role in the 2G spectrum allocation scam for transferring Rs 200 crore to Kalaignar TV Pvt Ltd, in its custody for two days.

The CBI was on Wednesday allowed by a Delhi court to interrogate Asif Balwa and Rajeev Agarwal, arrested for their alleged role in the 2G spectrum allocation scam for transferring Rs 200 crore to Kalaignar TV Pvt Ltd, in its custody for two days.

Special CBI judge OP Saini allowed CBI's plea saying as per the allegations against both the accused, they were "instrumental in transferring R200 crore in accounts of Kalaignar TV Pvt Ltd".

Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi's daughter and DMK MP Kanimozhi, her mother Dayaluammal and Sharad Kumar, managing director of Kalaignar TV Pvt Ltd, have 20%, 60% and 20% equity in the company.

It is alleged that R206 crore investment has been made by subsidiary of Shahid Usman Balwa's company DB Realty in Kalaignar TV during 2008-10. He has already been arrested by the CBI in connection with the case.
