Assistant commissioner of excise suspended on ‘corruption’ charges
An assistant commissioner of excise, entertainment and luxury tax department has been suspended by the Delhi government’s vigilance department.
An assistant commissioner of excise, entertainment and luxury tax department has been suspended by the Delhi government’s vigilance department on the alleged charges of corruption, a press statement issued by the government on Friday said. The matter is also being referred to the Anti-Corruption Branch for initiating criminal action.

The assistant commissioner suspension came after cash amounting to Rs 50,000 and a liquor bottle was found in the official’s vehicle. “No plausible explanation about the presence of cash and liquor bottle could be given by the officer,” the government’s statement said.
Sukesh Kumar Jain, secretary, vigilance department, informed the government about a specific complaint received against the assistant commissioner regarding corruption after which the officer’s vehicle was searched
“The Delhi Government has taken a serious view in the matter and the concerned Assistant Commissioner Excise, Entertainment and Luxury Tax Department has been placed under suspension,” the statement said.
Jain further clarified that if, any case of corruption is reported to the government, stringent action will be taken against the person found guilty of corruption.
