Former US president George W Bush on Saturday supported India's claim for a seat in the UN Security Council as India is "a strong democratic country" and "a vibrant and modern nation".

Addressing the HT Leadership Summit in Delhi: “We must see the possibility of a seat for India in the United Nations Security Council.”

India has arrived as a strong democratic country in the world. It is a tolerant, peaceful and multi-religious democracy, he said.

Bush highlighted India's crucial role in the global affairs. He said, India has a leadership role in climate change, to cut greenhouse emissions without hindering economic growth.
