Delhi's Palam area received 14 mm rainfall until 8.30 am while the rest of the city recorded much less -- 2.4 mm.

"These are pre-monsoon showers. Officially, monsoons come to Delhi on June 29 but this time it might get delayed by a few days and may finally come around July 2. All the rain before that can be termed as pre-monsoon showers," an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) told IANS.

The temperatures have also dipped slightly thanks to grey skies and a cool breeze on Thursday morning. The temperature recorded until 10.30 am was 30 degree Celsius while the minimum was 28.7 degrees.

The maximum temperature will hover around 34 degrees, which is five degrees below normal. The maximum temperature recorded Wednesday was 36 degrees.

"The skies will remain overcast throughout the day with chances of rain and thundershowers," predicted the IMD official.
