The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has written to the income tax (I-T) department to examine if there were any irregularities in the purchase of four Lucknow-based properties in the name of Prateek, son of Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, by his mother at a time when he was a minor.

The CBI forwarded the request to the I-T department after the conclusion of its six-year-old disproportionate assets case against former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yadav and his two sons, Akhilesh and Prateek, in which it had filed a closure report last month citing lack of evidence.

“We had found no criminality in the acquisition of these four properties in the name of Prateek by his mother Sadhana Yadav at a time when he was a minor, during our probe. But we forwarded the details of the properties to the IT department to examine and take appropriate action in case they find any irregularity,” said an agency source.
