"The CBI has set up a SIT to study the CAG report to find instances of irregularities mentioned by it, which would require filing of a regular case by the agency. HT had reported on August 6 that the CBI is likely to register up to 10 more FIRs over complaints related to alleged irregularities, including those cited by the CAG report in the conduct of the Games. The HT report had also mentioned that the agency was likely to file an FIR soon in connection with the allegedly irregular award of contracts worth around R71 crore to a Swiss firm, appointed as technical consultant for the Games, without seeking the Group of Ministers' (GoM) requisite approval.

The CBI is expected to also register regular cases over alleged irregularities in the award of contracts pertaining to "catering, ticketing that led to a loss of around R61 crore, sponsorship and Games News Service," said a source.
