Check Left or I quit, Mamata tells centre

With the West Bengal assembly polls barely five months away, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee uttered the 'Q' word on Wednesday.
"I am ready to quit if I can't prove that central forces are being misused in Bengal," she said in an interview to CNN-IBN.
"Central forces are being used to kill Trinamool cadres. I have complained 20 times to the prime minister and Sonia Gandhi. But no one is listening," she added.
She emphasized that the Congress needed the alliance with her more than she needed the Congress.
"If there is no respectful alliance, we will go it alone in the West Bengal polls," she threatened.
"I cannot support them (the UPA) if they help the Left Front in West Bengal," Mamata added.
The last time Mamata quit as cabinet minister, her political career took a nosedive.
She resigned as railway minister in the NDA government in 2001 to ally with the Congress but the last-minute alliance was trounced by the Left Front in the assembly elections the same year.
