CISF men return Rs 1.5 lakh to ‘forgetful’ Metro commuter

Madan Aggarwal couldn’t believe his luck when officials of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) returned his bag containing Rs 1.5 lakh on Tuesday night. Aggarwal had left it in the X-ray scanning machine at the Chandni Chowk Metro Station.

This is the second such instance in less than 10 days. On March 14 , CISF officials had traced another man, who left his bag containing Rs 2 lakh in the X-ray scanning machine, and handed over it to him.

Aggarwal, who is a jeweller, was supposed to board the train from Chandni Chowk Metro Station around 8pm on Tuesday.

“The cash was kept in a polybag inside a bag. When I put the bag in the scanner, the polybag must have slipped out,” said Aggarwal, who thanked CISF for returning his money. Aggarwal was in fact lucky that his prepaid card ran out of credit, forcing him to stay at the Chandni Chowk station for more time.

“I would have boarded the train if I had balance in my smart card. When I found that I don’t have enough credit to travel, I went to the customer care to recharge my card. By that time, CISF officials traced me me,” he added.

“Since I’m a jeweller, I have to purchase gold and the money Rs 1.5 lakh) was meant for that. It was my hard earned money,” he added.

The CISF on the other hand appreciated the work done by SI Alam Singh and HC Vijay Kumar, the two personnel who returned the bag. “The image of the force is built by instances like this,” a CISF spokesperson said.
