“The new work culture envisages marked improvement in efficiency and transparency. It also aims to improve the MCD’s interface with citizens by making the administration and working of all the departments e-enabled,” said Vijendra Gupta, chairman of the Standing Committee of the MCD.

According to officials, the public interface of the MCD portal and solutions would be easy to handle and user-friendly as the majority of the people in the Capital are not tech-savvy.

With recent incidents of MCD offices getting ransacked, the civic body has also asked the company to pay due care to data security. “We have instructed the consultant firm to provide computer training to all the concerned municipal officers and employees to make them expert in the proposed software so that they could provide efficient and prompt services to citizens,” said Gupta.

Wipro InfoTech has been selected through a tender process and the company would be paid between Rs. 70 lakh and 80 lakh for providing the services. Services like sanctioning of building plan, monitoring of sanctioned plan and certificate issuance would also be available on-line. For horticulture department, services like booking of parks, development of parks and gardens; green action plan, public participation would also be provided.
