Lieutenant governor Tejender Khanna, chief minister Sheila Dikshit, leader of the opposition in the Delhi Assembly VK Malhotra and police commissioner BK Gupta discussed the law and order in Delhi and possible solutions to increase general sense of security among the residents in a closed door meeting on Friday morning.

The security commission was set up last year at the direction of the home ministry following a Supreme Court order.

While Dikshit raised issues relating to security in the city, particularly the perceived feeling of lack of safety among women and sought concrete measures to dispel it, police commissioner Gupta briefed the members of the commission about the prevailing law and order situation vis-a-vis the level of preparedness to deal with any eventualities.

Sources said Gupta presented statistics to support the argument that crime rate had fallen in the last couple of years.
