Delhi co-operative minister Rajkumar Chauhan said the draw is illegal and police action would be taken against members who conducted and participated in the draw.

"We will request the Lieutenant Governor to take action against the violators. A similar FIR was registered against the members of some housing societies that had conducted a similar draw a few months ago. We will also request the L-G to ask police to initiate action in the case," Chauhan said.

The office-bearers of six cooperative group housing societies (CGHS) in Dwarka carried out 'self-draw of lots' for approximately 625 flats in the presence of hundreds of people, political leaders and the media on Sunday.
Together with these six societies, the number of CGHSs in Dwarka that have opted for self-draw of lots has risen to 18, since the first such draw was held in January by members of the Association of Suffering Members of Cooperative Group Housing Societies, Delhi.

The members alleged that more than 6,000 flats from as many as 58 societies have been lying vacant since 2005 following court cases and a CBI investigation.
